why is the ball not being played in Olympic rhythmic gymnastics any more?

I seem to remember in the last Olympics, or the one before? that in the rhythmic gymnastics event, bands, basketball, rope, clubs and balls were used ... How will this year's ball was nowhere to be seen?! or I have a fuzzy memory?

There are five sets (ball, hoop, ribbon, rope, clubs) and every four years, the cycle one out. In the 2004 Olympics rope was cycled out, and now the ball is out. There was some ball routines gala.
